Laser Hair Removal
Both men and women can find excess facial or body hair a nagging
concern. Many find depilatories, shaving, plucking, waxing, and
electrolysis uncomfortable, time-consuming and yielding only
temporary results. Laser therapy on the other hand is gentle, safe,
long lasting and non-invasive. Our laser procedures can safely and
effectively treat areas of unwanted hair, leaving your skin silky
and smooth.
The laser removal/reduction procedure can take from several minutes to
several hours, depending on the area of the body involved. A gentle beam of
laser light heats the dermis, instantaneously and permanently disabling a
percentage of hair follicles with each treatment.
Laser therapy is an ongoing process that requires multiple sessions. Hair
grows in cycles, and the laser affects hair only when it is in the early-growth
phase. The laser will disable follicles that are actively producing hair at the
time of treatment. At any time, some hair follicles are dormant. Repeat sessions
will treat these follicles when they re-enter the growth phase.
Laser Hair Removal Candidates
Anyone with unwanted hair is a good candidate for laser hair
removal/reduction. Although the most dramatic results occur in patients with
light skin and dark hair, it is possible for patients with darker skin to
receive benefit from the procedure. Other factors can influence the treatment
process and are evaluated during your initial consultation.
After Your Laser Treatment
Following a laser hair removal treatment, patients may occasionally
experience a temporary, slight reddening of the skin or localized swelling.
Sunscreen is recommended for any treated areas exposed to the sun. Otherwise,
there is no down-time associated with this treatment, and you can return to
normal activities immediately.
